This video is a captivating tool to use during your beginning instrumental music meeting with parents or even as a music advocacy video to play during your next concert. Through this video, the audience will learn the following advocacy tips about the benefits of music:

Educational Benefits of Music
When children are involved in the arts, there are advantages to every other part of their total development. They are “4 times more likely to participate in a math or science fair, 3 times more likely to be elected to a class office, and 3 times more likely to win an award for school attendance.”

Emotional Benefits of Music
Yes, we always want students in our music room because of the emotional benefits the arts bring to our everyday lives. However, it is also important to know that “93% of Americans believe the arts are vital to providing a well-rounded education.” In the music room they are learning life skills like teamwork, cooperation, effective communication, commitment, self-awareness, problem-solving, and how to deal with stress; all of which transfer into their everyday lives and interactions.

Economic Benefits of Music
Scholarships are regularly available for music students attending college regardless of if they decide to major in music during their time as an undergraduate. There is also empirical data outlining that 80% of today’s workforce have been involved in music at some point in their lives. In addition, “72% of business leaders say creativity is the number one skill they are seeking when hiring.” We also know that very few students who do not take up music in school are less likely to pick it up later in life.
